           So you think females are the best choice? As loving and wonderful as they are they don’t call them “bitches” for nothing!.. Females usually rule the roost, determine the pecking order and they compete to maintain or alter that order. Females are more independent and stubborn and territorial and therefore do display their dominance by displaying in alpha behaviors such as “humping”. The more serious fights are usually between females.

           Males on the other hand are usually more affectionate, exuberant, attentive and demanding of your attention. People are afraid if they get a male he will “mark his territory” This is true if he is not neutered and there are a lot of females around. Otherwise males make a wonderful pet. Before I started breeding Chihuahua’s I’ve always had more than one male dog in the house, neutered early, whether they were West highland white Terriers, Labs, or Dobermans, and it was never a problem.
